Foreign Affairs Minister to Attend Forum in Belgium

PHNOM PENH: Foreign Affairs Minister Sok Chenda Sophea is heading to Brussels for his first official EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and the ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting from February 1-2, 2024.

At the Indo-Pacific forum, the Foreign Minister will speak about “shared prosperity, economic resilience and investment with the aim of invigorating cooperation and partnerships between the two regions and capitalizing on strengths to inject new impetus into inclusive growth and sustainable development.”

The 24th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting will be co-chaired by the Republic of the Philippines and the EU. Foreign ministers will follow up on decisions made at the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit on December 14, 2022. They will also review progress in implementing the ASEAN-EU Plan of Action for 2023-2027. Ministers will also exchange views on courses to take on regional and international issues of common concern to advance the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership with the aim of maintaining peace, security, stability, and prosperity for the two regions and their peoples.

During his stay in Brussels, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to have separate meetings with counterparts from various EU member states and development partners to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.
